2011 US West Team Blog 09/23/2011

Its September 23rd  and Teresa, my friend, and I (Galen) are one long day or 800 miles from Nags Head. Nags Head is the new location of the 2011 World Surf kayak Championships presented by Valley Surf Kayaks. The contest had to be moved after Hurricane Irene devastated Cape Hatteras. I can only imagine the organizing committee has been working overtime to get everything in line for the event. We, the US West Surf Kayak Team, are grateful for their extra work and effort to host us.
I would like to thank Kokatat for sponsoring the 2011 US West Surf Kayak Team as we get ready to compete at the World Championships. The entire team will be proudly wearing special edition knappster shorty tops and the orbit pfd. The 2011 USWSKT is made up of 18 surf kayakers ranging from 14 to 62 years old. The team brings a wealth of experience and excitement. We are especially excited to bring two juniors from Idaho, Jeffery and Troy, who will be competing in their first world championships.
